Our Ph. D program is GPE (Graduate program in Englaih, program with enough English courses to meet graduation requirements), and the enrollment semesters is available for fall term.

The Ph. D. Program (Doctorate Program) aims to cultivate senior academic researchers with core courses that strengthen the cross-disciplinary quality and provide solid training on regional research. The Program targets at developing East Asian research and teaching features by focusing on two main areas, i.e. “culture and its application” and “political economy and regional development.” In terms of the course content design, the Program emphasizes 4 targets, namely, vision in East Asia, local practice, cross-regional integration and critical thinking, with the mission to cultivate senior academic talents equipped with theories, practical experience and globalization.

III. EMI Courses for GPE program, Department of East Asian Studies, NTNU

Ph. D. students of GPE program should choose from eithergroup ACulture and Its Application orgroup BPolitics, Economics and Regional Development to be their main group.  Once the main group is decided, the other one would be the minor group.

1. Required Courses3 credits (1 course)

2. Elective Courses: 18~21 credits (6~7 courses)

(1) Major group should not be fewer than 12 credits.

(2) Minor group should not be fewer than 6 credits.
